NNIT Expectation Barometer: From cost center to spearhead - the value of IT

The role of IT is changing – affected by developments that include the cloud, big data, and mobility. New requirements are being imposed on the IT department, and in addition to managing the traditional operational tasks, it must also act as a business partner.

In this year’s NNIT Expectation Barometer, we focus on how the IT department measures and communicates the business value of the IT services that it delivers to the organization on a daily basis. We do this because we assess that it is the springboard for the IT department’s further development. Business development and financial transparency are a new territory for an IT department, which historically has been considered a cost center and service provider. But in 2015, it is necessary to be able to demonstrate the business value of IT.
