Press release -
Near-term Science Based Targets Approved
On November 22, the Science Based Targets initiative validated that the greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets submitted by NNIT A/S conform with the SBTi criteria and recommendations.
“By setting greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets in line with SBTi recommendations, we are proving our commitment to building a sustainable world and aligning with a NetZero future. We have extracted a lot of learning from the submission and validation process and aspire to keep contributing to a more sustainable future in any way we can,” says Senior Vice President Lars B. Petersen who heads up NNIT’s sustainability activities.
Scope 1 and 2 Target Ambition in Line with a 1.5°C Trajectory
NNIT’s validated science-based targets for greenhouse emissions are as follows:
- Reduce absolute scope 1 GHG emissions 90% by 2029 from a 2023 base year.
- Reduce absolute scope 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2023 base year.
- Reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution 47% by 2030.
The SBTi’s Target Validation Team has classified NNIT A/S' scope 1 and 2 target ambition and determined it is in line with a 1.5C° trajectory (please refer to the SBTi’s near-term target validation report for NNIT A/S).

About the Science Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. They develop standards, tools and guidance that allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach NetZero by 2050 at the latest.
