Servicing the entire life sciences value chain
Since the beginning in 1994, NNIT has been dedicated to “IT for Life Sciences;” and following a number of strategic acquisitions, the global organization now offers IT solutions and services for most parts of the life sciences value chain.
Information technology is constantly evolving, sometimes at a revolutionary pace, following society’s constant need for greater quality and efficiency. The same goes for life sciences, as the need for new and better therapies and medicines is ever present.
IT is a great enabler within life sciences – throughout the entire value chain – to support and document R&D processes as well as ensure quality and efficiency of production and distribution.
And NNIT knows both specialty fields better than most:
“All the virtues of one of the world's most regulated industries are deeply rooted in our DNA. Security, compliance, quality, and excellence are always part of our mindset, and we have profound knowledge of the key challenges facing regulated companies – and how to help them accelerate through digital transformation,” explains Ricco Larsen, Senior Vice President, NNIT Life Sciences.
Building a leading position within the global life sciences market
Starting in 2003, only five years after NNIT was separated from Novo Nordisk and established as an independent company, international expansion began with a sales office in Zürich, Switzerland.
Three years later, in 2006, the first offices in China and Czech Republic were established. Then in 2009, NNIT began operations in the Philippines via its first acquisition (Corebuilt Technologies), and in 2012, NNIT opened an office in Princeton, New Jersey, USA.
Having established operations bases in APAC, Europe and USA, for a number of years, NNIT continued to develop its international presence and position, operating mainly within the life sciences domains of Clinical, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Management.
Finally, starting in 2017, NNIT began the journey of building its competences to be able to service most parts of the life sciences value chain, including Laboratory and Production IT.
Empowering those who change lives
In 2019, NNIT acquired Swiss-based Halfmann Goetsch Partner AG (HGP), providing a strong foothold in the European life sciences hubs Frankfurt and Basel and strengthening offerings within IT compliance and quality management services.
Acquisitions Valiance (2018) and prime4services (2022), which are currently being fully integrated in NNIT, boosted competences within Data Migration and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) services.
2020 and 2021 acquisitions Excellis Health Solutions and SL Controls further added competences within smart manufacturing solutions and supply chain consultancy services to the existing and comprehensive portfolio of IT services for life sciences.
“With the successful acquisition of Excellis Health Solutions, SL Controls and Prime4Services, we have created a production powerhouse to enable ‘the pharma factory of the future’. We now have the capabilities to provide services for fully integrated and digitalized pharmaceutical production,” explains Thomas Halfmann, Global Head of Production & Laboratory.
“It is our firm ambition to continue ‘to empower those who change lives,’ as we say, because we make it a priority to add value by using our domain expertise within IT and life sciences to help optimize our customers’ performance – and ultimately support their mission to improve and save lives,” Senior Vice President Ricco Larsen adds and finishes:
“In time, we want to become the globally leading and preferred digital transformation partner within life sciences – rooted in our profound insight into the industry, our global build-up and reach as well as the continuous strengthening of our solutions and service offerings to every part of the life sciences value chain”.
